asking asked:

My one year old goldendoodle has been to pet training classes, he is fairly well behaved at home.
When people come home, he jumps on them and scares kids with his excitement. All the training tips from the class isn't working. Another major problem I have is, he is way too playful. At the dog park, he tries to play with all dogs, most of them play with him well, but some older dogs get annoyed by his puppy energy. They snap at him and some even bite him, my pup still doesn't learn to back off.I thought over time, he will learn this, but every trip to the dog park is very stressful for me. I am worried that he might get bitten by some other dog. He doesn't come to me when I call during such situations. That is the reason why we invested in an expensive "sportdog training collar".
Now with this collar, we use it at the lowest vibrate level, once my dog feels the vibrations, he just sits down or just go in different direction. He doesn't obey instructions, he just shutsdown. please hel
I don't want to hurt him, but at the same time I want him to be safe. I feel bad to increase the vibrations. Don't know what level is tolerable for him, since he is shuting down or resisting strongly for the lowest vibration itself.
