How do you adjust an electric dog collar?

Jay Z asked:

My mother has recently bought an electric dog collar home and i have been skeptical at best whether to put it on my dog. I have a very small dog, so i figured what way better than to test it on myself first before my poor thing. I was told it has 7 settings...to me it seemed to have just 1, and it entailed alot of pain, more than a dog should experience. It is a simple enough collar working on the vibration of sound, and I am not sure how to turn the intensity down. Please help! I dont want to hurt my dog and I refuse to put it on my dog until the intensity is bearable for me.

My rat terrier has a high pitched bark....for some reason she has started to bark when someone comes to the front door....this is a fairly new annoyance....she would usually yap a couple of times at the door, but now it is endless until the door is answered or she is put outside....someone suggested a water gun. Another suggested a shock collar....I do not want to hurt her in any way. She is a sweet dog otherwise. The whole house echoes when she barks and wakes up people or interferes with conversation. She is 2 years old, she has been fixed, and is otherwise a great lap dog.

How do you stop a dog from barking humanely?

insomnia0013 asked:

Ok, I know that my dog can be annoying!! I understand this, I live with him every day, and most times he is in the house with me.

Well, last Friday, as most of you know, my sister in law died of cancer. I have been doing everything I could to help my brother and be there with him. Mon and Tues. nights were spent in Livonia at the funeral home, where I should be. Now, am I supposed to take my dog to a shelter? Or, like most folks, including the one down the street who's dog barks ALL THE TIME, leave him outside while I am gone? Now, I don't know about other people, but, I TRY to help out my neighbors, which I don't get to do most times, but lord knows, I would if I could. I think I mowed a lawn once for one of them when I knew that they were out of town. TODAY, my niece had her 13th birthday party at her moms house. Mind you it was this particular niece that lost her step mom, so, I didn't get home till 11 pm, and yes, dogs probably bothered some, but it is Sat. night, I don't know... anyway, when I got home, SURE ENOUGH, there was a police man sitting in front of the house. GO FIGURE!!

Does anyone have any suggestions? I have tried a bark collar, didn't work. I can't leave him out to show him that barking won't get him anywhere, cause then I'll get a ticket...

My dream? This stresses me out, more than my neighbors, I can bet on that. I'd love to put my house on the market, and move. Oh yea, by the way, I'd love to sell the house to someone they should REALLY be calling the police on, like the people the old owners rented to. You know the kind, the ones with all the bad habits, and lots of rowdy company all the time?

Other than my doggie, there is no other noise from around here. Its just me and my daughter, and we never have company...just my love for music.

I am so sick of the anxiety caused by all this, if I am not home by 9, I get butterfly's in my stomach, and get all nervous. This is no way to live. BUT it isn't the dogs fault, and I love him so there is no way in the world I could get rid of him.

And by the way, what ever happened to actually talking to people when/if you had a problem with them? Heck, people may actually find out that I am not the inconsiderate jerk that they like to pretend I am!! And wow, they may find out that I could possibly help them out in a pinch, but as it stands now, they have forever burned that bridge with me!!!

How can I keep my Dog out of the road?

soul_cade asked:

We have allot of land, and we're pretty far from the road. My Dog is free to run around where ever she wants during the day. She will sometimes go into the road, and I can't be there to tell her no, as its to far away. I also don't know when she will go into the road so I can wait around and follow her out there. Also I can't put up a fence and can't use the shock collar, and probably wouldn't unless I tried it out on myself first. Is there another way to stop her from going into the road here at the house? Thank You

Yanda asked:

My partner and I are going to buy a collar and leash for our new puppy (we haven't collected him yet but want to be 100% prepared). The breeder showed us a half check collar with leash but to me this looked like the old choke chain. I don't agree with any kind of collar that is going to cause discomfort to my baby (even though I know these are good for training the dog not to pull). I want something comfortable but effective - should I go for soft leather. What would be your advice, I have looked at many websites and there are so many different types to choose from. Thanks x
