how do you teach your dog to come to you using a sport dog collar?
Dog Training Collars
Selecting from amongst the several dog training collars available could be puzzling however it doesn't need to be. To be able to pick out the best training collar for your dog, there are several things you have to bear in mind. Training collars are meant to be worn to train, control and protect your dog. They should never be used as a method of punishment or to harm your dog.
My one year old goldendoodle has been to pet training classes, he is fairly well behaved at home.
When people come home, he jumps on them and scares kids with his excitement. All the training tips from the class isn't working. Another major problem I have is, he is way too playful. At the dog park, he tries to play with all dogs, most of them play with him well, but some older dogs get annoyed by his puppy energy. They snap at him and some even bite him, my pup still doesn't learn to back off.I thought over time, he will learn this, but every trip to the dog park is very stressful for me. I am worried that he might get bitten by some other dog. He doesn't come to me when I call during such situations. That is the reason why we invested in an expensive "sportdog training collar".
Now with this collar, we use it at the lowest vibrate level, once my dog feels the vibrations, he just sits down or just go in different direction. He doesn't obey instructions, he just shutsdown. please hel
I don't want to hurt him, but at the same time I want him to be safe. I feel bad to increase the vibrations. Don't know what level is tolerable for him, since he is shuting down or resisting strongly for the lowest vibration itself.
Choice of the most effective type of canine training collar for your personal training objectives is just the first step. Additionally you must ensure it is the right size and that you know how to use it correctly. Even the very best collar may not be appropriate if it is not utilized properly.
Types Of Dog Training Collars
Dog training collars include prong collars, head halters, choke collars, electronic collars. Dog harnesses and standard pet collars do the job fine for their designed purpose, but aren't considered "training collars" and so are not covered here.
Prong collars have the appearance of something out of a medieval torture chamber that would be quite painful. Used properly, they are quite humane. Prong dog training collars were initially made from metal prongs linked to each other in chain fashion. Nowadays they're also available made out of plastic which is preferred by many. These types of collars control the dog by slightly "pinching" the neck when the handler pulls on the lead. If used over aggressively, they will cause pain so caution should be used.
Head halters such as the Haiti and Gentle Leader halters resemble and work in a fashion similar to harnesses used for horses. They function by directing the dogs' path. The dogs' body naturally follows the head and a harness does a very good job of controlling the head. Although they might look to be very restrictive, the dog easily becomes used to them. They are particularly useful in controlling aggressive dogs.
Choke collars remain widely used and are also suggested for use in numerous 4H dog training programs notwithstanding the controversy around their use. Used the right way, they are satisfactory dog training collars, however they are easy to misuse. If they are placed on the dog incorrectly, if links become twisted or if too much force is used by the handler, they can, in fact, become devices of torture. For me personally, I discontinued using choke collars years ago and will never go back to them. You can find many far better dog training collars to choose from.
Electronic dog collars are intended to give the dog a slight shock upon command of the handler. The intensity can be adjusted from a slight buzz or tingle to get the dogs' notice to a more serious jolt. These should never be used on small or timid dogs and only subsequent to discussion of your situation with a reputable trainer. Shock collars could easily cause harm to your dog if used carelessly.
What ever your individual requirements, you can find the perfect collar from the broad range of dog training collars readily available on the internet. Take a few momemts to search our website and change your difficult dog into a fantastic, nicely behaved friend.

I’d say after a few times of shocking the lil guy he’d get use to it and you could just show him that your going to shock him and make him stop.. Most dogs don’t like to be shocked, kinda painful… But partly he’s still a young one ya know… Don’t give up hope on this one, keep working with him.. And don’t waste any more money on training him or having someone else train him… your chasing good money after bad in my opinion.. GOOD LUCK!!!

We take our puppy to dog parks and she doesn’t listen well when she is busy either. If things continue then hopefully he will learn not to mess with certain dogs. Kayce is 15 months old and she is still learning how to behave at the dog park. Maybe if he doesn’t figure it out he will learn about the collar. Every time you set off the collar call his name right before you do it and hold out the clicker so he can see it. Then, hopefully, eventually just the act of calling his name and showing him the clicker will stop the behavior before you even have to push the button. I have seen several people do this with their dogs…
But he is young and full of energy…and biting and rough housing is how they play. I just watch my puppy carefully and if she gets into rough housing where there is whining or yelping or it looks too rough then I step in…but otherwise I let them deal with it because if I don’t then she will not learn. All the dog will learn if the owner keeps stepping in is that the owner has their back if anything goes wrong so they don’t have to be concerned with whatever happens.
