Product Description |
| The KeepSafe Break-Away Collar is the only collar that has a patented safety buckle that is designed to protect dogs from collar accidents and can be used securely with a leash. Did you know thousands of dogs are injured or strangled by their collars each year? In a recent survey, 96% of veterinarians reported having seen/heard of a collar-related injury or death within the last year. Any dog wearing a collar can potentially get into trouble with the collar becoming caught. Accidents happen regardless of size/type of dog, type of traditional collar or amount of supervision. The majority of collar accidents occur in the safety of the backyard or even the living room . Small 10"-14", Medium 14"-20", Large 18"-28", X-Large 22"-34" |

| This is the best collar on the market:practical, rugged, awesome, need I say more? I have two dogs that each have one and they are very active and they have gotten caught in cituiations that requied the collar to break, great feature, also great price. |

I am one of the "one in a million" owners that knows first hand the utter heartbreak and devastation that comes from losing a cherished dog to a collar accident. My 15 month old Rottweiler (75lbs) was strangled to death by her rolled leather collar (not a choke) while playing outside with another dog. The other dog's tooth got caught in the buckle and he strangled her in his twisting attempt to get free. She was much bigger and stronger, but it didn't matter. It was fast and too quiet to alert someone in the home to what was happening.
We now have a new puppy and this is the only collar she wears around the house. It is true that it does come free on occasion, but that typically means that she was stuck on something and pulled hard enough to break apart the clasp. The clasp is easily reassembled and there is no damage to the collar. If there are times where you do not want the collar to separate with pressure, all you need to do is link both D-rings together, like with the buckle of a leash when you go for a walk. I suppose you could do this with a carabiner or something for other circumstances where you don't want the collar to separate, but that would probably defeat the purpose. |
Does exactly what they say it will.

| I bought one of these collars for my Bedlington Terrier. He goes to the dog park fairly often and sometimes the dogs play fairly rough, wrestling around on the ground and chasing and such. I wanted him to be safe, in case another dog accidentally got hold of his collar. Happily, I haven't needed to test the collar under dog-play circumstances, but I can tell you the collar DOES break away when under stress. When you take your dog for a walk, you need to be careful to get your leash clipped through BOTH of the D-rings on the collar. One time I accidentally only connected one D-ring. My dog saw one of his best dog-friends and began pulling quite hard at his leash (we're working on eliminating that problem, he's only a puppy) and -- snap! -- the collar popped open and off he went. Luckily, he was fairly easily captured, but... good to know the collar does what it's supposed to! |

I've had Break-Away collars on both my dogs for quite some time now and they are truly life savers. My dogs are still rather rambunctious puppies, but the collars break loose only in emergency situations. It takes some getting used to attaching the leash, but it's more than worth it.
I wish they came in more colors/designs and with silver metal instead of gold, but I'd much rather my dogs be alive and safe than fashionable. |

| A break-away collar was required by the dog boarding service we used when we went on vacation, but we were unable to find one at the local pet store. This one came in a choice of colors and at a reasonable price. The collar looks great and works as described. Since it has the override feature for leash attachment, we have just replaced the old collar permanently with this one! So far our dog has not tested the break-away feature, but it is comforting to know it's there. |
